Pat McCarty

Pat is a Board Advisor to FNA drawing from 30 years of legal and public affairs experience with financial regulators, legislators and financial institutions.

Mr. McCarty is the founder and President of McCarty Financial, LLC, a boutique government affairs consultancy which focuses on regulatory and legislative issues related to swaps, futures, cryptocurrencies, securities, and commodities.

Among his many significant roles, Pat served as the Senior Professional Staffer on the Senate Agriculture Committee on Dodd-Frank Act issues, including drafter of Title VII OTC Derivatives; former General Counsel of the Commodity Futures Trading Commission; former Professional Staff of the House Banking Committee during Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act.  In addition, Mr. McCarty has worked for 4 federal banking agencies, US Securities and Exchange Commission, a private law firm and a national trade association. Mr. McCarty is a Lecturer at Columbus School of Law, Catholic University of America (Derivatives Seminar since 2011) and Adjunct Professor at Georgetown University Law Center (Derivatives and Financial Products since 2016 – teaching course on Cryptocurrencies Fall 2018); Mr. McCarty is a 1986 graduate of Catholic University of America Columbus School of Law and a 1980 graduate of the University of Virginia with a B.A. in Economics.
